Fees and Rebates

Rates for psychological services are guided by the Australian Psychological Society. A reduced rate is offered to health care card holders. The cost of each 50 minute session is $185.00.

Medicare rebates:

The availability of Medicare rebates applies to clients who are referred by their GP or psychiatrist. Rebates are available under the Australian government’s ‘Better Access to Mental Health Care’ initiative. This initiative entitles clients to access to up to ten sessions per calendar year.

Clients must have a referral and Mental Health treatment Plan from their General
Practitioner or Psychiatrist at the time of booking to be eligible for their Medicare rebate on session costs. Currently, the Medicare rebate is $89.65.

Private Health Insurance Rebates:

The majority of private health insurers offer rebates on psychological services. Rebates, however, can vary significantly and are based on the level of cover you have taken out with your insurer. It’s advisable to check your level of cover with your insurer before your appointment.
